On a long drive over the Massai Mara grass plains, the grass was dried out from the month long penetrating sun and through the open windows a smell almost hay touched my nose.

John, my Massai guide and driver during my photo safari in the Mara, stopped the engine. I followed his pointed finger and saw a herd of buffalos coming closer our the left.

While we waiting for them, John told me that these cows are dangerous. His father got attacked by a buffalo when being out there to pasture the family’s goats with severe injury. A decade later he still suffers from bad pain..

Since then I look at the buffalos with respect and know you should not temper with them.

Still I was amazed from the big herd approaching us. When the leaders formed up like a legion moving forward like in a war battle, I knew which name this image will hold …

• The edition size of the Pride of Africa Collection photographs is 101 prints per image plus Artist Proofs of which each size has a certain amount of prints allocated to it.
• All original photographs by Klaus Tiedge (+01.07.2019) are now released as an estate print with an embossed signature of Klaus Tiedge on the front (bottom right) and are released by the artistʼs wife Sandra Tiedge with a detailed authorisation on the back of the print.

• As our standard we are using Giclee printing method on high quality archival fine art paper e.g. Hahnemühle German Etching, Epson Cold Press paper.
