Long straight roads and monotonous stretches of landscape pass before coming to the more adventurous parts of Namibia close to Mount Okanimbo.
While driving through the bushveld of dry and golden shimmering grass, I smelled the same smell of hay that I remember so well from my childhood. It felt good and wonderfull to be out there.
Suddenly my driver stops, interrupting my wondering thoughts. But I cannot see anything. Then, right next to our car, I couldn’t believe my eyes, -stood a leopard! His eyes stare at me. Carefully, I grab my camera from the seat next to me without my eyes leaving to focus on him. Although one wishes to come up so close to this animal in the wild, it was a bit tricky to get a good position to photograph. We are very close and I do not want to move around too much. But it is remarkable, the leopard stand still!
The beautiful spotted fur, so camouflage in the dry grass that we almost missed him those clear focused eyes.
Amazed by this unique moment and beauty of nature, we drive on.
Although this image breaks with the overall style of the collection, it takes in an essential provision.
